Can you pave our forecourt without closing the parking?

Yes, in phases. We section the area and work bay by bay so residents always have somewhere to park. It takes longer than doing it in one go and it is usually the only workable arrangement in an occupied Westlands block.

Our ramp keeps breaking up. Why there?

Turning under load. Vehicles pivot at the top and bottom of a ramp, and that twisting force destroys 60mm blocks quickly. Relaying the apron areas in 80mm on a deeper base fixes it, the rest of the parking is usually fine.

There is no lay-down space. Blocks, sub-base and sand arrive close to when they are needed, which makes the delivery schedule part of the programme rather than a detail. A missed delivery stops work rather than delaying it.

It also means we cannot buy the whole job in one load and store it, so the sequencing has to be right first time.

Basement ramp aprons take the heaviest wear on any Westlands site: every vehicle turns at the top and the bottom, pivoting under load.

Those areas are 80mm on a deeper sub-base regardless of what the flat parking uses. Where we are called to repair broken-up paving in a block, it is almost always these zones and almost always because they were laid to the same specification as the rest.
