Ready-Mix Concrete Supply in Nairobi: Class, Volume and Access

from KES 9,000 / m³

Specify the class, not just “concrete”

Ready-mix is sold by strength class, and the class is what you are actually buying.

  • Class 15: blinding, mass fill, non-structural work. Cheapest.
  • Class 20, general domestic slabs and hardstanding.
  • Class 25, the usual structural residential grade.
  • Class 30: higher strength, heavier loading. Most expensive because it carries more cement.

Ordering “concrete” without a class means somebody else chooses, and the cheapest choice is rarely the right one for a slab that will carry vehicles.

What it costs

KES 9,000 – 15,500 per cubic metre for typical residential grades, ranging from about 8,500 for Class 15 to around 20,000 for Class 30. Location, pumping and delivery distance all move it.

Calculate the volume properly

Length × width × depth in metres gives cubic metres. Then add for the subgrade being uneven, which it always is, a nominal 100mm slab over an imperfect base routinely consumes 10–15% more than the arithmetic says.

Ordering exactly the calculated volume is how a pour stops three square metres short, and a cold joint in the middle of a slab is a permanent weakness. We order with an allowance and would rather return a small surplus.

Access before ordering

A loaded truck is heavy and long. Before ordering we check the approach, the turning space and whether the ground will carry it, a truck bogged on a soft verge is an expensive afternoon.

Where it cannot reach, concrete is pumped. That is a real and predictable cost that belongs in the quotation, not a surprise on pour day.

Pour in one operation

A slab poured in two sessions has a joint whether you planned one or not. We size the order and the labour so the pour is continuous, and where a slab genuinely must be split we place the joint deliberately with the right detail rather than letting it fall where the concrete ran out.

Other things we do

Send us the area

Rough square metres, what vehicles use it, and a photo of the ground. We will come back with a rate, and an honest view on whether existing paving needs relaying rather than replacing.
